James publishes his first awarded book, making decades of financial expertise accessible to a broader audience.
During a guest lecture at Berkshire School, James designed a live investment simulation for students. Their energy, curiosity, and drive revealed something deeper — a need for early, real-world exposure to the financial world. The idea of a school began to take root.
Each summer, Main Street Research quietly opened its doors to a handful of young interns, offering them rare insight into the inner workings of portfolio strategy and capital markets.
With his second book, The Sustainable Endowment, James addressed the distinct needs of mission-driven organizations. It offered them a roadmap to protect and grow their capital — empowering nonprofits to secure their futures and deepen their impact.
In his third and most personal book, James shared candid insights into the emotional landscape of investing. From fear and overconfidence to discipline and clarity, the work became a compass for both aspiring and seasoned investors — a masterclass in mindset.
