Mario DiFiore

Mario is Senior Assistant Dean, Director, and a professor of Finance and Business Economics with Fordham University’s Gabelli School of Business. He is a five (5) time award winner for teaching excellence and innovation.

He leads Gabelli School of Business’ initiatives in financial wellness, and separately, Student Managed Investment Funds, holding the position of Chairman of the SMIF Responsible Investments Investment Committee. As an accomplished journalist, Mario also serves as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Financial Compliance, an internationally peer-reviewed journal devoted to best practices in the field of Compliance; as well as the author of the weekly column, Market Minds and Money Moves (currently offered through Substack). He is the former Co-Global Head of Compliance Training for Deutsche Bank AG’s Commercial and Investment Bank and a former senior staffer at the Federal Reserve.

While at the Fed, Mario held a variety of positions, including Senior Representative for International Relations, and separately, Assistant Chief of Public Information.

In the Public Information role, he was responsible for the weekly Federal Reserve Press Conferences, one of the most widely followed release of economic, banking and financial information, globally.

He is a former Debate Champion at the Cambridge Symposium on Economic Crime, Cambridge University (UK). Mario is an international consultant providing extensive training and consulting in Financial Markets, Behavioral Finance, Compliance, and Risk. He has taught in Asia, Europe, North America, the Middle East, and Africa.

His research includes a framework to predict asset allocation decisions with personality traits and cognitive abilities, as well as the use of fundamental and behavioral metrics in predicting market movements and market regime changes. Mario holds a BA in Economics, summa cum laude, from Fordham University in New York; an MBA, also from Fordham; and a PhD in Financial Economics from the NEOMA Business School (Paris, France).
